On 16October 2026, a decree was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Cyprus, amending the part of the VAT legislation, which covers transactions subject to the reduced rate of 9%. Specifically, the amendment introduces a new paragraph covering photovoltaic systems of household customers, with effect from 16 October 2026.
The new provision strictly applies to photovoltaic systems of household customers, as defined under the Law Regulating the Electricity Market, which systems are intended for self-consumption of electricity in their residences.
