As part of the Cyprus government’s efforts to digitally transform and modernize the services provided by the state, starting from 1January 2027 applications for the renewal of residence permits for certain categories will be submitted exclusively online through the government portal gov.cy.
The online facility was launched in July 2026 and enables the submission of applications for the renewal of residence permits under the same employer, for the following categories:
• Temporary residence permits for Remunerated Employment (GEN) – submission eligibility period is from 60 days up to 30 days before permit expiry.
• Temporary residence permits for Domestic Employment (DW) –submission eligibility period is from 60 days up to 30 days before permit expiry.
• Temporary residence permits for employees of Companies of Foreign Interests (BCS) – submission eligibility period is from 90 days up to 30 days before permit expiry.
• Temporary residence permits for Family Reunification (for family members of Long-Term Residents and employees of Companies of Foreign Interests) (FR) –submission eligibility period starts from 90 days up to 30 days before permit expiry.
• Long-Term Resident permits (LT) –submission eligibility period starts from 90 days up to 30 days before permit expiry.
As from 1 January 2027 physical submission of applications at the Migration Department’s offices will no longer be possible.
Access to online services requires the creation and verification of a CY Login account, which is the state unified electronic identification system that provides secure access to digital public services.
