Further to our previous newsfeeds on this, the Cyprus Registrar of Companies (Registrar) issued an announcement on 24 May 2022, informing that as from 1 June 2022 access to information regarding the Register of Ultimate Beneficial Owners (UBO Register) of companies and other legal entities will be available also to obliged entities and the general public.
So far, access to the UBO Register has been permitted only to competent and law enforcement authorities, such as MOKAS (Unit for Combating Money Laundering), Cyprus Police, the Central Bank, etc. Competent Supervisory Authorities, the Financial Intelligence Unit, the Customs Department, the Police and the Tax Department, upon request to the Registrar of Companies.
To receive information, interested parties must submit a written application to the Registrar, together with a fixed fee of €3.50 per entity. The application must include the name and registration number of the company or other legal entity, as well as an e-mail address for communication purposes.
