On 20 December 2024, a decree issued by the Minister of Labour and
Social Insurance Services was published in the Official Gazette of the Republic
of Cyprus. The decree outlines the essential terms and conditions of employment
which employers are obliged to disclose via the Ergani Information System (the
“Ergani”).
The decree relates to Article 11 of the Transparent and Predictable
Working Conditions Law, as amended in November 2024, based on which all employers
are required to disclose their employees’ essential terms of employment in
Ergani. The main objective of the obligation is to facilitate the verification
of compliance with local labour laws and to reduce undeclared work.
The following are considered as essential terms of employment, to be recorded
in Ergani:
1. Employer’s details
2. For a retail business,
the type of business
3. Employee’s details
4. Employer’s registered
office
5. Place of work as per the
employment contract and at the time of registration
6. Job description and
specialisation
7. Date of commencement of
employment
8. For a fixed-term
contract, the employment ending date
9. In case of temporary
employment agencies, the details of the indirect employer
10. Terms and duration of
probationary period
11. Length of annual leave
and method of payment
12. Remuneration/emoluments
and frequency of payment (hourly/daily/ weekly/monthly)
13. Working hours of the
standard working day/week
14. Reference in case the
working time schedule is unpredictable
15. Other
benefits/allowances, commissions, cost of leaving allowance, etc.
The deadline for registration of the essential terms of employment in
Ergani is on 28 February 2025.
